Top Burgers for Celebrating Memorial Day 2015 in NYC

Memorial Day (and National Hamburger Day) is just around the corner, which means that there is no better time to check in on the best burgers in NYC that I have eaten so far in 2015. These burgers would all make an amazing meal this weekend, and really any time you’re in the mood for a great meat sandwich.

Honorable Mention: Alder – The price-to-size ratio might scare some away. I for one ate one burger on my own and split a second one with a friend. Still, for a tasty burger, interesting onion rings, and a good beer, it’s actually a solid Manhattan price. 157 2nd Avenue in Manhattan.

10. Mile End – If you’re in the mood for a distinctly Eastern European tasting burger (in the thematic sense, not the sense that this is how burgers are made in Eastern Europe), then this is a completely appropriate burger for you. 97A Hoyt Street in Brooklyn.

9. Seamstress – Upper East Siders tend to keep this restaurant packed and pumping out burgers, so you’ll want to make a reservation. The mutton burger is worth the trip for those of you who live outside of the neighborhood. 339 East 75th Street in Manhattan.

8. Burger Bistro – This restaurant is worth visiting for the countless combinations that can be made from quality burger elements. And after Memorial Day, you might want to pop in on a Wednesday to see what their donut burger is all about. 1663 1st Avenue in Manhattan.

7. Forrest Point – The burgers at Forrest Point are way cheap, so you’re not going to get a better deal for this level of quality. There’s also a huge patio space, so it’s an ideal place to spend your Memorial Day. 970 Flushing Avenue in Brooklyn.

6. Cherry Izakaya – It took a year for Cherry Izakaya to put a burger on their menu, and the wait was worth it. For Manhattanites, it is only a couple blocks away from the Bedford L station, so there’s no excuse to miss out Memorial Day dinner here. 138 North 8th Street in Brooklyn.

5. Park Luncheonette – Though not a particularly big burger, Park Luncheonette’s offering is perfect for lunch, packs in a lot of flavor, and leaves you satisfied without making you want to sleep for the rest of the day. Plus how can you go wrong with a burger AND pizza on Memorial Day? 332 Driggs Avenue in Brooklyn.

4. Black Tap – Chef Joe Isidori wants to serve you simple burgers and cold beer while you listen to good tunes and maybe take in a game. On that they deliver, so go and be patient while you wait for a stool to open up. 529 Broome Street in Manhattan.

3. Joe’s Bar – This place just opened up and it has already set my hamburger-loving mind on fire. The patty is so rich with flavor that the burger at Joe’s will have you singing its praises. I don’t care how far you live from the Upper West Side, this burger is a must-try. 480 Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan.

2. American Cut – Marc Forgione’s all in-house take on a hamburger at American Cut stands out by remembering to have fun. I can’t stress how important that is in crafting a burger. 363 Greenwich Street in Manhattan.

1. Almond – The burger here is tasteful, and tastes incredible. The service is impeccable and the atmosphere is quite cozy. I don’t know of another burger quite like this in New York City, so it gets the top spot on this list. 186 Franklin Street in Manhattan.
