Emily – West Village

A new Emily opened up in the West Village today. Emily is super dope. They topped my burger of the year in 2014, and then made the list again with Emmy Squared in 2016. So when I got the opportunity to drop in at their a couple days ago, I ate everything.Burger Ordered: The Lammy Burger Double Stack

The Taste: The double lamb patty was topped with achaar spread, papadum, and green papaya slaw on a Tom Cat pretzel bun. That pretzel bun is such an Emily staple that it almost made up for the fact that there’s no special sauce on this burger. Almost, but not quite. I am obsessed with Emmy Sauce and the sauce on Le Big Matt, so I wanted sauce here. Now, I could have ordered an Emmy Burger and gotten Emmy Sauce, but I wanted something new. Okay, tiny self-defeating tantrum over. This burger was still dope. I Don’t know what most of the stuff in the slaw was, but it was all mighty tasty. And the patties were unctuous without being overly gamey.

I also ordered two Detroit style pizzas in the Pig Freaker (toppd with bacon, kimchi, sesame, miso queso, and scallions) and the Colony (topped with pepperoni, pickled chili and honey). Both were big wins. I’m a huge fan of this pizza.

The Verdict: You can get Detroit style pizza in Manhattan now, so going to Emily is a no-brainer. But the burger is also a win so everybody leaves happy.

Emily is located at 35 Downing Street in Manhattan, New York.
