DBGB5

DBGB5

This week, Daniel Boulud’s DBGB celebrated its fifth anniversary on Bowery. Named for CBGB, Boulud’s love for punk and rock showed throughout the night. Whenever Carte Blanche wasn’t serving up vintage diddies, the night’s playlist consisted of AC/DC, Nirvana, and Ramones tunes of note. Marky Ramone jammed with the band and put in a wicked drum solo. Boulud also debuted his new Back in Black Birthday Banger, a pork link studded with black trumpet mushrooms, on a black poppy seed bun, topped with black trumpets, black garlic sauce and caramelized onion, which was delicious.

All three of DBGB’s burgers were served, and Boulud hinted at a new burger that will debut at the new DBGB in Washington DC, though he wouldn’t share any detail at the risk of spoiling the surprise. I suppose I’ll have to make a weekend trip to the nation’s capital soon. In the meantime, DBGB5 was a hell of a fun night.

You can get in on the DBGB5 fun as well. Until September 1st the Back in Black Birthday Banger will be available for $10. And for diners who order the banger, a flight of five DBGB favorite beers can be had for only $10. The first flight will feature: Reissdorf Kolsch, Stoudt’s German-Style Pilsner, Bronx Pale Ale, Half-Stack Singlecut IPA, and Ellie’s Brown Ale. But most importantly, you can post a photo from DBGB, tagging #DBGB5, for a chance to win dinner for six with Daniel Boulud at DBGB. The #DBGB5 photo with most likes will be notified to schedule dinner at a mutually agreeable time, menu and beverage selected by DBGB.
