Pig Bleecker

Can we talk about what’s going on at Pig Bleecker? Because I think I got my wires crossed before going here. Pig Beach, a Brooklyn beer garden of which Pig Bleecker is a spin off, has a vibe completely different from this spot. I guess I could have read, oh I don’t know, any press at all before going here. But I didn’t, so when I showed up to hear loud conversations over thumping music, I was surprised. Now that you’ve read this, you won’t be surprised.

Okay, that’s out of the way. Now let’s talk about the burger. Burger Ordered: The Bleecker Burger

The Taste: The Bleecker Burger is a rather massive endeavor consisting of two patties, pickles, secret sauce, and cheese on a potato roll. It’s messy as hell thanks to the sauce, cheese, and grease. It’s also ridiculously good. Ridiculously good. I said it twice because there are two patties and also because I liked it twice as much as I’ve liked a lot of burgers that I’ve eaten.

The Verdict: Am I wild about the vibe in Pig Bleecker? Not really, but I have to admit it would probably make for an impressive date spot. What I am wild about is getting to eat Chef Matt Abdoo’s burger without having to go out to Gowanus.

Pig Bleecker is located at 127 East 27th Street in Manhattan, New York.
